Kenner's Boba Fett Action Figure

This mail-away action figure, while technically not released as part of a Holiday Special line, could very well be considered Holiday Special merchandise. At the time, The Empire Strikes Back had not been released, and this was the first figure available that would be featured in the new film. But it was also a character which had first featured in the Holiday Special, and Kenner included this information and a description of Boba Fett's role in the Holiday Special on the flyer included in the mail-away package (see photo for details). In this flyer, they referred to the Holiday Special as being called "A Wookie Holiday" (sic).

Since Kenner was developing a prototype Boba Fett Sea Serpent toy, it's likely that this figure may have been originally developed to go with it. Perhaps they were both worked on at the same time along with the Wookiee family action figures, and when the rest of that toy line was scrapped, Boba Fett was the only toy to stay in production. This might even explain why it was the first Empire Strikes Back toy made available.
